Poison the Well is a melodic heavy-metal band from Orlando, Florida which formed in 1997. The group was originally called An Acre Lost. The band changed its name shortly after the release of their first album.
Poison the Well released their first album, Distance Makes The Heart Grow Fonder, in 1998. Their followup album, The Opposite of December... A Season of Separation, was released the next year and to this day, Guitar World magazine still dubs The Opposite of December one of the greatest hardcore albums of all-time, ranking number 8.
